2 Game Preparation
3
Game Start
The
start player is randomly determined. He places one of his teepees on
any vacant space in play. The other players follow clockwise. Then
all players put a second teepee on a different vacant space in the
same way.
4
Object of the Game
The
player having most teepees at the end of the game wins.
5 Game Turn
Starting
with the start player and continuing clockwise, players each execute
a turn, in order doing the following:
Move
the buffalo,
Supply
your teepees
and choose one of the following extra activities:
Move
a teepee,
Earn
resources,
Place
a new teepee, or
Move
a buffalo.
5.1
Moving buffalo
Move
as many buffalo as you have teepees on the board. You may not move a
buffalo more than one space. Buffalo move straight or cross towards
the other side of the game board, they may not be moved backwards. No
more than five buffalo may be in one space at any time. Moving the
buffalo is mandatory, you may not skip a move. If you move a buffalo
into the open plains (from one of the spaces in the last row on the
game board), it is taken out of the game. Buffalo may not leave at
the left or right sides, only at the opposite side of the game board
5.2
Supplying teepees
Teepees
are supplied if there are at least as many buffalo as teepees in the
same space. If there are fewer buffalo than teepees, you have to pay
one resource for each of your re-supplied teepees. Teepees from other
players in the same space get supplied first.
Example 1:
There
are two buffalo, one of your teepees and three teepees from other
players on one space after you moved the buffalo. The buffalo are
allocated to the teepees of the other players (you wouldn’t
leave someone else unsupplied, wouldn’t you?), You pay one
resource from your personal stock to supply your teepee. The others
pay nothing - they will have to supply their teepees in their turns.
Of course you wouldn’t have to spend a resource if there were
at least four buffalo in that space.
Check
whether all of your teepees are supplied and pay resources for your
re-supplied teepees. If you cannot support all teepees, the
unsupplied teepees are taken from the game board You may not
voluntarily leave a teepee unsupplied if you still have resources in
stock. (You may not borrow resources from other players.)
Example 2:
You
have two re-supplied teepees and one resource in your personal stock.
You pay the resource for one of the two teepees (which one is your
choice) and move the un-supplied teepee back to your stock. You may
place it again later in the game.
Unused
teepees should not be mixed up with teepees which followed the
buffalo into the open plains at the end of the game board (see
5.3.1)!
5.3
Extra Activities
You
must perform exactly one of the four possible extra
activities.
5.3.1
Moving a teepee
Move
one of your teepees to any adjacent space. They may only leave the
game board only at the side where the buffalo may leave it. If the
space a teepee has moved to is occupied by teepees from other
players, all players who have teepees in that space (including you)
pay one resource to the general supply. If any of the other players
has no resources, he does not have to pay. But you may not enter an
occupied space if you cannot pay the resource.
No
payment is required if you move a teepee to a space occupied by only
your own teepees.
Example:
Moving a teepee
You
move your teepee to a space which is already occupied by two teepees
of player A and one teepee of player B. Players A, B and you have to
pay one resource. But as player B has no resources, he
pays nothing. Note that Player A only pays one resource although
there are two of his teepees on the space!
If
you move your teepee into the open plains, i.e. out of one of the
spaces in the last row, it remains in the open space at the end of
the game board. It will count for victory at the end of the game. Do
not return it to your supply!
5.3.2
Earning Resources
Count
the number of buffalo in all spaces where only you have teepees.
Subtract the number of teepees in those areas and take that number of
resource blocks. You do not get resources in areas which contain
other teepees beside your own. You may not have more than ten
resources in your personal stock.
Example:
Earning Resources
You
have seven resources already and may earn four more. You take only
three, as you may not exceed the limit of ten
resources.
Note
that the buffalo are not removed from the game board if you earn
resources!
5.3.3
Inserting a teepee
Pay
3 resources and place a new teepee in any area where only you have
already one ore more teepees. You may not add a teepee in areas where
other players have teepees as well, or where you do not have a teepee
already.
5.3.4
Moving a extra Buffalo
You
may move one extra buffalo. The same rules apply as in 5.1. Note that
this is after you have supported your teepees – you may not use
the extra buffalo move to support an unsupplied teepee. But you may
move one of the buffalo you already moved in 5.1.
6
End of the Game
The
game ends when no teepees are left in the game – they have
either entered the open plains at the end of the game board, or have
to be taken out of the game due to lack of resources. The player with
most teepees in the open plains wins the game. In case of a tie, the
player with most remaining resources wins.
